Yeast Intolerance
Many people have heard of lactose intolerance but, a little less known is yeast intolerant. When someone is yeast intolerance it means that their body's over produce candida. Candida is a group of yeast-like fungi that lives in moist areas of the body, including the mouth, intestines and vagina. In most people the populations of candida are kept in check by beneficial bacteria in the body. However, sometimes they grow beyond tolerance levels in excess of what is required. The infected person suffers from yeast intolerance and a disease called candidiasis or thrush. The fungi typically thrive on simple sugars, bread, and biscuits. The yeast-like fungi feed on food that have gone through fermentation. Therefore keep away from alcohol, cheese and yogurt. For the most part, a person in good health can usually keep candida under control, but if the immune system is weakened by illness or stress the fungus can grow quickly. Antibiotics kills beneficial bacteria inside the body which cause the fungi to grow fervently. Suggested causes of thrush includes hormonal imbalance, poor nutrition and stress. When a person's normal diet is lacking in the right nutrients, it can weaken the immune system as well making it difficult for the body to cope with the toxins that the excess yeast produces. Patient suffering from thrush find themselves craving for sweet and yeast-containing drinks and food, typically soft drinks and candies. Candidiasis can be treated with a special diet that avoids the person eating yeasty foods and the foods on which candida thrive. A person with a yeast intolerance might also suffer from diarrhea and headaches. Sufferers might also find themselves with mouth ulcers with coated, furry tongue. The only way for a person who is yeast intolerant to completely eliminate its symptoms is to follow a yeast free diet. Unless the symptoms have sudsided, it is highly possible that it lasts for the rest of their lives. A yeast free diet requires one to take food like cheese, yogurt, caffeine out of their diet. The foods that are causing the problems within the body can sometimes be re-introduced into the diet once the correct balance of yeast has been produced in the stomach.
